Dean Pereira and Cindy Heller Pereira were a young couple who had both experienced hardships in life, ultimately finding each other through their shared journey of marriage. Growing up without a proper mother figure in a broken family, Dean had never envisioned himself getting married or starting a family, even though he felt a lightning bolt of love for Cindy. With no ambition beyond his current job - where knocking back a beer at 8 in the morning had no impact - Dean seemed content with his lot in life, while Cindy saw untapped potential in him. Cindy, too, had a troubled upbringing, with both her parents failing to set a positive example of marital bliss and family life.
