Laura (Penélope Cruz), a woman living in Argentina with her husband Alejandro (Ricardo Darín), decides to take her two children back to her hometown in Spain for her sister's wedding. During the festivities, Laura reunites with her former lover Paco (Javier Bardem), now the owner of a vineyard. However, the joyous occasion takes a dark turn when Laura discovers that her 16-year-old daughter has been kidnapped. A ransom demand is made, prompting Alejandro to fly in from South America to handle the situation. As the family races against time to save their daughter, long-buried secrets and betrayals come to light, challenging their relationships and testing their strength in the face of adversity.
