Far from the Madding Crowd, adapted from Thomas Hardy's novel of the same name, tells the story of the fateful encounter between sheep farmer Gabriel Oak and Bathsheba Everdene - a young, beautiful, well-educated but poor and capricious woman who visits Gabriel's land to see her aunt. One night, as he struggles to breathe while sleeping in a tent, Gabriel is saved from certain death by Bathsheba. Grateful for her intervention, Gabriel finds himself falling deeply in love with Bathsheba. Despite her feelings for him, Bathsheba rejects his marriage proposal, leaving both of them in a whirlwind of emotions and unspoken desires.
